The Youth Sailing Charity London is a charitable organisation (Registered in England and Wales - Charity No. 1183835) which aims to encourage and support sailing-based activity for young people in the London area. Tapping into a network of sailing providers across London, young sailors will be supported in the development of their skills in both the areas of performance sailing (racing) and also in instructing (coaching skills development), with the broader aim in mind of influencing personal growth through the belief in a positive mind set.
The Youth Sailing Charity London objectives are to:
To promote regular participation in sailing and water-sports centres and clubs within London Boroughs by offering opportunities for personal development.
To promote and support participation at junior and youth sailing events within the London boroughs.
Support a participation pathway in sailing through coaching, competitions and events such as the Sailing League, London Youth Sailing Regatta, as well as RYA Youth Pathway Scheme.
Provide a network of support for partners and members, as well as to development volunteer opportunities.
Events (e.g. training clinics and regattas) are delivered by Royal Yachting Association (RYA) qualified instructors, Coaches and Trainers.
If you are new to sailing we recommend that you contact your local sailing club or sail training centre to find out more information on how to get involved. While we welcome grass roots level sailors at all of our events, the minimum level of ability that we stipulate sailors have before joining in is RYA Stage 2 (Youth) / Level 2 (Adult) or the ability to demonstrate an equivalent level of experience.
